About
Lake Martin Humane Society, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and as such, all donations to it are deductible for tax purposes. Our income comes from donations from individuals and businesses, adoptions, fundraising events and the sale of pet-related merchandise. We receive financial support from the City of Alex City in exchange for which we care for all animals turned in by the City Animal Control Officer.
Adopt A Pet
Have you been thinking about adding a cat or dog to your family? Wondering if you are ready? First and foremost, make sure you are prepared to care for your new pet for its entire life – 15 to 20 years on average for an indoor cat and 6 to 13 years for an indoor dog. Hundreds of thousands of cats and dogs end up in local shelters each year because their owners did not carefully consider the responsibilities associated with having a pet. Make sure you can provide a loving home for the entire life of your animal before adopting.
Our Services
Spay | Neuter
Over 120,000 healthy, adoptable dogs and cats were euthanized in Alabama shelters last year. Spay-Neutering is the only humane solution.
Alabama Spay-Neuter is one of the top 10 spay neuter clinics in the U.S. Each year 12,000 companion animals are sterilized at Alabama Spay-Neuter.
